In Slovakia, new nuclear source is planned to be built and several alternative technologies are investigated. The planned total capacity for the new source is approximately 1 GW of electric power output.
During the preparation phase, the preliminary decommissioning plan with estimation of costs has been developed. The AquilaCosting software was used to estimate these costs.
This estimation was developed using an expert-judged inventory database and customized waste management simulation stream, tailored to the current experience with the decommissioning and waste management in Slovakia. It has been proven that the AquilaCosting software is flexible enough to estimate costs using a simple inventory database during the very first preliminary decommissioning planning activities during the preparation of the construction.
